About the blog

IMG_0841“Fortune favours the bold.” I’m starting a blog.

Recently, as I was scrolling down my phone, while lying face-down on my bed (naturally), an uncharacteristically productive thought occurred to me. Wouldn’t it be so much more fulfilling to spend the time wasted on envying other people’s neatly documented travels, as I did on creating my own content?

Of course, the notion of starting a blog has cropped a few times in the past (I’m an English lit student and aspiring journalist), however it has always been supressed by a few nagging qualms. ‘Isn’t it such a commitment?’ ‘Will people want to read what I have to say?’ ‘If I can’t even change my name from ‘user’ the default setting on my laptop, how will I be able to cope with the wrath of wordpress technology?’

Surely however, the merits of writing a blog outweigh these challenges. I get to practice my writing, do something worthy with my time and, best of all, have my wanderlust immortalised (albeit in pixilated form). Although there are countless travel and lifestyle blogs already in existence, hopefully I will still be able to ensure that you find my little region of the World Wide Web captivating. Although it’s easy to fill each post with filtered pictures and heavily edited holiday anecdotes; the highlight reel of each adventure, I will try and be as truthful as possible. All form of quirk, disaster and charm will be recorded, because wouldn’t the whole concept of travel be redundant if everywhere was a paradise? This explains the theme that runs throughout the titles of each post. For each I’ve selected an age-old proverb, a perfectly condensed nugget of wisdom, but re-evaluated it with my own take, subject to authentic personal experience.

So, going back to my initial blog-related epiphany, I decided it was about time I should get up (both theoretically and literally) before it should all pass me idly by. Hence follows this blog.

And as for the technology issue? Blessed be the Youtube Guru.
